Display Energy Certificates (DECs) / Operational Rating Training
What is a Display Energy Certificate (DEC)?
All public sector buildings with a total useful floor area of 1,000 m2 are required by law to display a DEC in a prominent place, clearly visible to the public.
Plus, the DEC / Operational Rating will also be central to the Green Deal Report for commercial buildings. Get this qualification now and fast-track through the Commercial Green Deal Advisor course so you're ready for the official launch in Autumn 2012.
The DEC shows the energy performance of the building in operation (also known as Operational Rating), based on actual energy consumption records, as recorded annually. DECs are required to be updated each year and an Advisory Report to be generated on the first year of display and updated every 7 years.
The Advisory Report details a range of possible measures that might be implemented to improve the energy performance of the property. Display Energy Certificates and Advisory Reports can only be prepared by qualified and accredited Display Energy Certificate Assessors who hold a license to practice. This status can be achieved through ABBE Level 3 Diploma in Display Energy Certificate Assessment / Operational Ratings.
Similar to the EPCs, the required output must be submitted to an Accreditation scheme for lodgement. The resultant certificate can be submitted in either electronic or hard copy format.
We now offer distance learning programmes to both new entrants and qualified assessors. Book online now.
