Green Deal Training Courses - qualify in other disciplines now for a fast-track start
The qualifications for the Green Deal Advisor role (both for Domestic and Commercial GDAs) are unlikely to be available until at least March 2012, which will then leave little time to become qualified in advance of the official Autumn launch.
However, Asset Skills have recently released the draft National Occupational Standards (NOS) for these new qualifications and approximately 50% of the units already exist within other ABBE energy related qualifications. Therefore by completing these qualifications now (if not already held), you will be able to complete a fast-track course to cover the outstanding units only.
Fast-track to Green Deal Qualifications
Depending on your chosen route and target market, the following qualifications are included as part of the Green Deal Advisor roles:
- Green Deal Advisor Domestic - includes units from L3 Certificate in Domestic Energy Assessment
- Green Deal Advisor Commercial - includes units from L3 & L4 Cert in Non-Domestic Energy Assessment and L3 Cert in Operational Ratings (also known as DECs)
Click on the links above to find out more about these courses and how to book online. Getting these qualifications 'under your belt' now will enable you to fast-track through the GDA qualifications in Spring 2012.
Green Deal Installer Training & Quality Standards
For those businesses that are also looking to install the Green Deal measures (based on the recommendations provided in the report produced by the Green Deal Advisor), there are likely to be a number of hurdles to overcome! Although this process has yet to be officially announced, the suggested path is likely to be:
Step One: ISO 9001 and 14001 (quality standards - may not be mandatory)
Step Two: PAS 2030 (new quality standard for 2012 - will be mandatory for the Green Deal)
Step Three: MCS Accreditation (if you wish to install renewable technology)
Step Four: Green Deal Code of Practice
Step Five: Green Deal Accreditation
Green Qual intend to to offer a comprehensive training and quality standard package to enable potential installers to complete this process and get up to the required standard to become an accredited Green Deal installer.
